This project has allowed us to reconnect with community groups that we are linked to within our immediate area. After the pandemic we, like lots of community groups, became disconnected with our local links and have been fortunate enough to be funded by the Levelling Up Fund through Broxtowe Borough Council and Inspire’s Multiply programme through Nonsuch Studios to reconnect with those groups.

This project involved outreach performances and workshops in nursing and care homes, working in a dementia friendly way with our members engaging with participants and leading sessions. This was possible thanks to 3 year core funding from Nottinghamshire County Council’s Local Improvement Scheme
We worked with Showtime Dance and Sidekick Dance both based in Leicester to create this dance film which you can watch by clicking here We collaborated with film maker Tom Oliver to create the work which was funded by the People’s Postcode Lottery.
A photographic exhibit we created in collaboration with award winning Nottingham based photographer David Severn. We shot at various locations in our local area to create work in response to challenging the public’s perceptions of older people dancing. The images were toured to local groups accompanied by a live performance and was funded by Nottinghamshire County Council’s Arts Grant scheme, the images selected for exhibition are featured below.
